Disability Computing: Issues and Challenges (DisCo)

Abstract

The aim of this workshop is to address the critical issues surrounding disability computing, focusing on barriers, challenges, and the impact of technology on work inclusion and remote collaboration. People with disabilities often face obstacles in accessing and utilizing technology, limiting their full participation in various aspects of life. This workshop seeks to bring together researchers and practitioners to explore innovative solutions and strategies that foster inclusivity in the digital landscape.

Despite advancements in technology, individuals with disabilities encounter barriers that hinder their effective engagement with computing systems. Whether it's related to accessibility, privacy concerns, or challenges in remote collaboration, there is a pressing need to identify, understand, and overcome these hurdles

Goals

The aim of this workshop is to create a platform for interdisciplinary discussions among researchers, practitioners, and policymakers. The workshop will facilitate the sharing of insights, research findings, and practical experiences related to disability computing. Attendees will collaboratively explore strategies to address barriers, enhance accessibility, and promote work inclusion and remote collaboration for individuals with disabilities.

List of Topics

In the scope of this workshop, we are interested in the exploration of the concepts, application scenarios, and development of tools. While our focus at LIST lies on personalised health recommendations and upskilling, we welcome perspectives from other domains to jointly develop a research roadmap.
