Industrial Track on Pervasive Assistive Environments and Systems

We call for contributions from commercial organizations reporting on products, research and development in the field of pervasive environments and assistance systems. While PETRAe traditionally has a healthcare and wellness background, we particularly solicit submissions from an industrial context.

The Industrial Track serves as a forum for providers and developers of pervasive technologies and assistance systems, reporting and discussing practical issues of designing, building, deploying and finally running pervasive assistive environments. We invite submissions reporting on actual research and development as well as experience reports on issues encountered. Demonstrations are encouraged where appropriate.

Scope

We solicit contributions to the following topics:

  • Application of assistance systems in work environments
  • Applications and use cases of situational assistance
  • Tools and infrastructures for assistive environments
  • Sensor networks for pervasive assistances
  • Mobile technologies for hands-free interaction
  • Distributed displays for pervasive assistance
  • Wearable devices for personal assistance
  • Context aware mobile systems
  • Monitoring systems for activity logging and resource management
  • Collaboration and information sharing tools and infrastructures
  • Business cases and cost analysis of assistive environments
  • Acceptability, usability, and fit to market of assistive systems/environments
  • Implementation and development of standards
  • Application reports of mobile devices in maintenance, support and assembly
  • Case studies of introducing pervasive technologies in industrial contexts

Contributions are invited from commercial organizations, with joint academic-commercial teams being accepted, particularly for Industrial Track Research Papers.

Submission Information

Paper:

We invite two types of contributions.

Industrial Track Research Papers are papers written in a scientific style, focusing on research for and development of assistive environments. They should cover some innovative method or use of technology resulting in novel services, functionality or quality of provided assistance. Evaluation studies of novel assistive technologies in industrial contexts are welcomed, as well as relevant market analyses.

Industrial Experience Reports give account on experiences made developing, deploying or running assistive systems. Reports should focus on aspects relevant to the conference such as pervasiveness, ubiquitous availability, and assistance. When describing a product, articles should be written in a non-sales style, keeping in mind the purpose of this forum being presentation and discussion of issues arising when developing, deploying or running assistive environments.

Format:

Both types of contributions should not exceed 8 pages. Industrial Track Research papers must have a minimum of 4 pages. Industrial Experience Reports should be not shorter than two pages.

For format and style, the general conference guidelines are to be met. Please refer to the conference submission guidline .

Where to Submit:

Submissions are to be done through the Industrial Track submissions page.
